A/N: Yes, I realize that DH wouldn't be on any TV-station yet, so this is set in the future ;-) it was inevitable that I did this one day!
Summary:  John and Sherlock watch 'Deathly Hallows Part 2' with some... unexpected reactions.

Movie Night

John sighed heavily at the credits rolling, swiftly pulling out the remote and turning the TV off.

“I am sort of disappointed we didn’t go see this on the big screen,” He muttered, voicing his regret for perhaps the hundredth time. “It would have been great.”

A low, affirmative sound came from his side. Sherlock was sitting curled up in the other end of the couch, legs pulled up and a pillow hugged close to his chest. His face was hid in the pillow, leaving him in a slouched and crumpled position.

“Sherlock…” John slowly reached out, prodding at the other man’s shoulder with his finger. “Sherlock… are you… are you crying?”

A glimpse of a tear-streaked face that was glaring at him, was all he got, before said face was buried in the pillow again.

“Of course not. Don’t be ridiculous.”

“Are you actually… crying… over Harry Potter?”

A sniff. “No,” Sherlock’s voice was muffled and he sounded very defensive. John was staring in open-mouthed surprise.

“You’re… but… it…” He choked out. “It’s… it’s just a film, Sherlock.”

He was met with a snort this time. “Not what you said when we watched Titanic.”

“HEY! Low-blow,” John hissed, folding his arms over his chest. “But… seriously, Harry Potter?”

“You were the one gushing about the books earlier,” Sherlock retorted, finally lifting his face. “You sounded as if that Rowling-person was some sort of genius...”

“She is,” John snapped, determined not to be outdone. To his great surprise, Sherlock only blinked and then burst into tears again, sobbing into the pillow.

“Oh, you’re right!” He managed to get out, taking a deep breath and drying away the tears with the sleeves of his robe. “She is, she really is…”

“Sherlock!”

“What? Why can’t I be caught up in a beautiful story as well as you?”

“But… you… it… sociopath!”

“Doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings.”

“Yes, that is what it means.”

Sherlock cocked his head to the side, now staring at the black screen. “High-functioning sociopath.”

“With a soft spot for love stories? Nah, can’t be right. You thought Titanic was horrible.”

“That’s because it is horrible. It is completely unlikely that something like that should have happened and the actors look like children.”

“Oh, and it is very likely that something like Harry Potter would happen?” John teased. “And half the characters in that are teenagers.”

“People claim Titanic could have happened, whereas everyone knows that Harry Potter isn’t real,” Sherlock concluded, hugging the pillow even closer. “The love story in Titanic is shrill and obnoxious and in Harry Potter it’s…” but he never got to finish that sentence as he burst into tears yet again, mumbling about ‘death eaters’ and ‘patronus’ and ‘so sad’.

John made an almost scared noise in the back of his throat. “Really, Sherlock…” he mumbled. “You never cease to amaze me.”

Hehe! Very cute, and, well. The Harry Potter franchise has made other grown men weep, too. ♥

Thank-you - I don't understand how someone can watch it and not cry ;)

I'm going to die from laughing at that. All. Day. Long. Thank you. :)

The love story in the new Harry Potter movie made me cry like a baby. And I agree with Sherlock about Titanic.

Me too, and I think it always will. I'm not a huge Titanic-fangirl either ;) I'm glad you liked it

LOL! Love it! Aw, Sherlock crying in front of Deathly Hallows makes me feel better about crying in front of it as well! ;) John is so funny!

I still don't understand how someone can't cry in front of that; I wept like a little baby :P I'm glad you liked it!

I somehow seemed to have cried for the same reasons as Sherlock... wow! ;o) Nice lil!fic you have written. Now I'm only curious what Mycroft and Lestrade would cry about? Hah, mad idea: Mycroft = Lord of the Rings (defeat of the Dark Lord '... but *sobsob* he only wanted to rule Middle Earth *sob*') and Lestrade = Voyage of the Dawn Treader (end of film '...but how *sobsobsob* do you manage not to cry when *sob* Reepicheep travels beyond the *sobsob* waterfall *sobsobsob*?') ... sorry, I'm a mad head. :o)

Thank-you! Hehe, I like your ideas, though I think the one for Mycroft would fit better with Moriarty maybe :D

[identity profile] greenie1980.livejournal.com 2011-07-23 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
tehe... yeah, that's true. though that could be an indication there is something going on. like: john, sherlock, molly, jim and sarah sit together in 221b watching lotr and then jim cries his heart out and sherlock goes 'hm, excuse me... may i ... experiment a bit on you? you know... evil mindset and so on.' molly 'NO WAY!'

now... what could mycroft like instead of lotr? forsyte saga maybe... '*sobsobsob* i know this is only fictional but *sobsobsob* young jolyon looks so much like you *sob* it hurts me so much to see him *sobsobsob* die *sobsobsobsobsob*. *goes bearhugging lestrade* (this of course only works with mystrade) XD

Since I guess you haven't seen this specific scene nor the Forsyte Saga on the whole, here are youtube links (the joke is of course that Rupert Graves played Young Jolyon indeed, otherwise it wouldn't work) ;o).

That specific scene starts here (from 9:50 till the end)

and continues here (from the beginning till 1:05)

The Forsyte Saga really is epic... I guess everyone of the usual suspects would find a moment in it to get wet eyes. :o)
