That must have been a weird experience with how much he changes during the course of the show! I suppose he seems really heartless in some of S1-2 compared to after his shiny little redemption-arc in s3. But that's what fun about rewatching is that you can read so much more into what they say and do, even if the actors themselves weren't aware of what was happening.
