I've just come back from watching 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey'. I'm not coherent enough to wax poetry, so let me just say that I loved every second of all three hours and ohmygod go watch it right NOW!

I realize not everyone's going to like it a lot, but I really did. There's always things to nitpick about in a film, but I was blown away in the cinema, and if I'm blown away in the cinema, then I'm going to stand by that film, even if I nitpick about it on rewatch when I get the DVD.

LOOK WHAT ARE YOU EVEN STILL DOING HERE GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW!!

- [livejournal.com profile] fueschgast I haven't forgotten about your SuperWho fic! It will be up sometime. I just got sidetracked and ended up writing angsty Dean/Cas instead (because you know how Supernatural doesn't give us enough angst already.... eh) ;)

- I have this horrible habit of... never ever buying clothes. That's not such a horrible habit, but it does mean that at least once a year, I end up having absolutely no clothes because everything is so worn down or - in the case of this winter - it is just not warm enough to wear anywhere that isn't inside a sauna. So I end up having to go on a shopping spree and I am not good at going on shopping sprees. This time, however, was made immensely entertaining because I went with my whole family, including my dad. He actually volounteered to go. I think he's sick or posessed or something. Nevermind, we were looking for shoes, and I stumbled upon a cheap pair that would go well with the suit I want to wear for galla when I graduate: I'm no good at walking in heels though, so when I complained about this my dad went: 'oh, those are not so bad. Just walk a little in them every day or as often as you can, and you'll get used to it'. Cue me being showed pictures of my dad in dress, wig and high heels when we got home. Apparantly he'd do this every time someone had a big birthday/bachelor-party/anniversary/anything. I haven't laughed this hard in months. (and I did end up buying the shoes)

more general rambling about my life and nothing in particular )

How come I don't have a Batman-icon? The depravity...

So. The Dark Knight Rises happened and it was... amazing. Glorious.

As a former (and still occasional) gamer, and avid fantasy-fan, this article was pure gold for me to find:

for anyone still wondering, yes, women can wear full armor too

I found it through another brilliant article, concerning the 2011 Marvel movie Thor, which is also a great read for anyone even remotely interested in feminism and the potrayal of women in todays media:

is Thor a feminist movie? (Yes)
