International Women's Day

Today is International Women's Day! Now, it will only be so for a few more hours over here, but in the meantime, I'm taking a leaf out of [livejournal.com profile] mrstater and [livejournal.com profile] novindalf's books, and am writing drabbles in honor of this day. You can write the name of a female character and a prompt (anything) and I'll write you a drabble or a short fic (most likely the latter. Hitting 100 words is usually like when I try to walk in a straight line, it doesn't end pretty)

Fandoms that I have a snowball's chance in hell of writing for:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Doctor Who
Downton Abbey
Legend of the Seeker
Robin Hood
Merlin
Supernatural (though this far only up to and including season 4)
Harry Potter
Sherlock
Lord of the Rings
Jane Austen
The Hunger Games
Percy Jackson (only the first series)

ETA: Feel free to prompt me with more than one thing if you want, and for the same character more than once. I want to see if I can keep going on my January-induced fic-high all year long! ;) (not likely, buuuut...)
captaintish: (Dr. Who -- 10.5 & Rose kiss)

[personal profile] captaintish 2012-03-08 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Rose, Doctor Who. Doctor/Rose. Penguins and angst. ;)

[identity profile] keep-counting.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You want penguins and angst in the same prompt? xD :D
captaintish: (Dr. Who -- 9th Doctor & Ferris Wheel)

LOL, I was trying to come up with something challenging, and that's what popped into my head.

I have a very weird brain.

[identity profile] keep-counting.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I like it :D challenge accepted!

OMG, OMG! :oD

[personal profile] fueschgast 2012-03-08 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, time to go to one of my favorite places: overboard \o/! Here, have a few prompts:

Doctor Who: I'd something about Donna being awesome as the normal person that doesn't remember the Doctor. ;__;

Merlin: I'm currently at the part where Gwen was banished from Camelot. I'd like to know what she's been up to while away. ...But only if it doesn't include big spoilers.

Supernatural: Some hunting adventures of Jo, please.

Harry Potter: Something about Lilly when she was still friends with Severus.

Sherlock: I can has Molly being the nice person that she is? I know, right - what an unspecific prompt!
Also, I'd like to know how Kitty feels when she finds out that her story was a lie and realizes that Sherlock killed himself because of her story.

Haha, I should have known you would enjoy this all too much :D

I'll try to do all of yours! Though I'm not quite sure if I can execute the Kitty-one, but all the others definitely ;)

[personal profile] fueschgast 2012-03-08 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
But if anyone deserves execution, it's Kitty! I mean, ahem... *cough*.

Re: OMG, OMG! :oD

[identity profile] keep-counting.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, well-done :D word-twist... and yes, Kitty has to be run over. At least once...

I love me some wordplays.
I like the idea of Kitty getting run over. Preferably by order of Jim, because he found her annoying (not that I'm sure he did).

[identity profile] keep-counting.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
lol, I think at one time there was this speculation that Kitty was in on Moriarty's whole plan? I mean, I like it better when she's clueless because it makes her more interesting, but damn, she could be a true-villain!
fueschgast: (Sherlock - Moriarty)

Re: OMG, OMG! :oD

[personal profile] fueschgast 2012-03-09 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Kitty's enough of a villain just by being a journalist who doesn't work with Jim (I liked that whole evil journalists thing, it's so current). And I agree, it's more interesting if she was fooled by Rich Brook.

You know, I keep thinking about Jim calling Kitty darling. I know, he likes to use terms of endearment, but would he also use them while in the Rich role? Maybe they were sleeping together. Ha, good for Jim (Although he deserves someone much better! ...Is my bias showing?)! When Kitty finds out that he was really Moriarty and he just used her... *cackle*

Your head is too filled with ideas xD doesn't it ever explode? Though, now that you've lined it up like this, Kitty's story really is a fascinating one. I mean, she's a damn good journalist, but she's also manipulative and painted as quite immoral actually: a typical modern journalist who would do almost anything to get their story on the front-page.

fueschgast: (Sherlock - Moriarty)

Re: OMG, OMG! :oD

[personal profile] fueschgast 2012-03-10 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
No, so far it hasn't exploded. Ooh, but if it does, I'll have something in common with Jim :oD (Don't I have an amazing ability to make bad things look good? hahaha).

And this immorality makes me wonder if Kitty feels anything at all about how things went. Of course, just because she manages to justify some bad things, doesn't mean she's a complete monster. Maybe she does feel bad when she finds out her story was a big, fat lie. I guess she wouldn't care that she printed a lie, but she should feel bad about having fallen for Jim's lies, thus causing Sherlock's apparent suicide. Hm... if Kitty worried about Rich when she didn't hear from him anymore?

Re: OMG, OMG! :oD

[identity profile] keep-counting.livejournal.com 2012-03-10 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, I think you're the only one who would take that as a good sign xD yay, I'm like the psycho-criminal now! :D

I think she worried a bit: I also think, even without knowing her story was fake, that she felt bad about Sherlock comitting suicide. Obviously, she was a chain in that, even if she believes that he did it out of shame. So, I definitel think she's human, she's just plenty of immoral as well!
fueschgast: (Sherlock)

Re: OMG, OMG! :oD

[personal profile] fueschgast 2012-03-15 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Seeing her feel bad about it would certainly make me dislike her less. ...Maybe she'll even help restore Sherlock's good reputation.

Hmm, bringing Kitty back for a while in S3 might be interesting! It would certainly help, the journalist who ruined him before now supporting him; would give him a lot of credit

[identity profile] ladyeni.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi! Happy International Women's Day! Just leaving a lot some prompts here... :D

PJO:

Annabeth, still standing
Annabeth, peace and quiet
Annabeth, "oh, no, you didn't!"
Thalia, reflection
Thalia, true bravery

Jane Austen (I don't know which books of hers you've read, so I'll just write some for all of them):

Elizabeth Bennet, much more
Elizabeth Bennet, understanding

Emma Woodhouse, saucy little smile
Anne Elliot, to those who wait
Anne Elliot, didn't see it coming
Dashwood sisters, tomorrow
Catherine Morland, that was long ago
Fanny Price, not what you might think

[identity profile] keep-counting.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, challenge accepted :D (I won't be done until christmas). I can write the ones for Elizabeth, Jane and the Dashwood sisters as well :)

[identity profile] ladyeni.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you only read Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility? Go read more Austen novels right now, missy! xD I'm looking forward to reading everything!

[identity profile] keep-counting.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
And Emma as well! EMMA AS WELL! xD Believe me, I'm working on it, there's just sooo much I want to read. I was in a Dickens phase for a while too :D

Doctor Who, Rose, River, Amy: Ouroboros

Doctor Who, Susan, Rose/Doctor(any): Homecoming

[identity profile] keep-counting.livejournal.com 2012-03-09 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure I can do the last one, as I haven't watched any old-who episodes with Susan yet, but if I have time I'll try :)
