keep_counting | Percy Jackson - Five Drabbles (Annabeth-centric) (Reply)

Second in a series of character-drabbles, this time centering around Annabeth. Again, there will be Annabeth/Percy and also allusions to other pairings but not anything big. Also, these are pure crack. And I'm writing them on insomnia and pain-killers. So it's rubbish. But it's fun rubbish.

And this time, the theme is 'animals'. Don't ask me why. No really. Not even the Doc Oc would be able to tell you.

Elephant

Annabeth remembered when she’d gotten out of bed that morning, and thought she would have a fun time. She was, after all back in the Camp and she was really looking forward to spending this summer with all of her friends and, last but not least, her new boyfriend, Percy Jackson.

That was, of course, before she remembered that Percy… was Percy.

“So… tell me…” She had her arms crossed over her chest and was tipping her foot against the floor. “How the hell are you going to explain this?”

Percy made an ‘eh’ sound and rubbed the back of his neck. Annabeth frowned.

“How in all of the God’s names did you get an elephant in here??!’

Spider

It wasn’t so much that Annabeth was afraid of spiders. It was more, the fact, that they seemed to not only want to attack her, but also had those… those creepy, long and hairy legs and all those eyes and…

She screamed loudly as something touched the back of her neck, jumping up and running away as fast as she could. Stunned, Percy stood there with his hand still outstretched.

No, it wasn’t so much that Annabeth was afraid of spiders.

At least, that’s what she kept telling herself.

Fish

“So, you’re telling me, that Tyson told you, that Clarisse had mentioned to him that Percy had been seen talking to a fish, who told him that Katie had been cheating on Travis Stoll, with Connor Stoll?”

“Um… uh… yes!” Silena nodded her smile wide and bright. “It’s true!”

Annabeth desperately wanted to say something to the other girl – namely point out that Travis and Katie were not even really together, and why in the world would Clarisse be talking to Tyson anyway?? – but words completely failed her and she ended up just patting Silena’s arm and going away, all the while pondering the stupidity of demi-gods.

Horse

When Annabeth had asked – asked, not begged. She was far above begging – Percy for a date, she had not been expecting him to take her horse-riding. And actually, she had not been thinking it such a good idea to start with, mainly because he was so much better at it than her (stupid, cheating son of Poseidon)

However, when Percy apparently said something to his horse that made it reel up and throw him off into a large pile of mud, Annabeth could not help but enjoy it just a little more.

Kittens

Annabeth had barely opened the door to her house, before something black and silver crashed into her. Letting out a yelp, she fumbled for her knives, but relaxed when she noticed that it was just Thalia.

Thalia with scratches on her face and a look of fear in her eyes.

“Thalia? What happened?” Annabeth gripped her friends shoulders and looked around worriedly. “What are you doing here?”

Annabeth…” Thalia got out. “Would you pleaseplease please just take them away from me???”

“What? Take what away from you? Thalia I don’t understand…”

The sound of meowing interrupted her thoughts and Annabeth looked down in wonder. Sitting around her feet, where the three most adorable, little kittens, all looking back at her with the same expression of curiosity.

Upon seeing them, Thalia let out a loud scream and ran for the day and Annabeth was yet again left – almost – alone, pondering the insanity of her fellow demi-gods.
