Being Human (1x01-1x05)
Jun. 24th, 2012 03:22 pmGOOD LORD WHAT IS THIS SHOW DOING TO ME
'I am darkness. I am death. Vengeance and fury. Fire and blood. Diamond and bones. Sapphire and.... steel. Confess Owen. CONFESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS'

Annie said 'fire and blood' you guys. Guess what I thought of. Also, she makes the best faces. THE BEST.
Other notes on the show this far:
- I'm at the stage where I sort of want to punch Mitchell. I get why he's doing the things he's doing, but I think it bugs me that we don't have more of his background-story. We don't actually know that much about his relationship with Herrick, how many times he's fallen on and off the wagon etc. I don't feel like there's enough motivation behind his actions, and thats mainly the writers fault at this point. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy his storyline: I am thrilled we finally have a vampire who embraces his darker nature, and doesn't go around moaning and feeling constantly guilty over all the lives he's taken. The world is a hard place and Mitchell is a hard man(vampire) but that doesn't mean he's a bad person.
- Will we ever get the story of what happened to Nina? On one hand I want it, on another I don't. It adds a beautiful dimension to her character, and I like her reasoning for not explaining: if she talks about it, she'll remember and... well, it must have been absolutely horrible. But my imagination is also playing over-time, and I think George's is too. At this point, what really happened cannot be as horrible as the inferno of pain and destruction I am imagining. I guess I just want Nina to stick around, please.
- I think I want Mitchell and Annie to be together and have beautiful curly-haired babies. Only, of course they can't have babies, but the show wouldn't have established that Annie can touch other people and be touched by other people, without there being a reason. AND THAT KISS. That is still the sweetest thing ever.
- Will we ever get to see Mitchell in Casablanca? ;)
- I would love this show for its dialouge alone. 'We were like the worlds gayest ninjas!' - 'Did you just hit me with a chair? What is wrong with you people. That totally, fucking hurt!' - 'She kicked me in the shin. The shin, George!' - 'Doesn't he understand, these people are British. You're not allowed to talk to your neighbours until you've nodded at them for fifteen years'
- Does anyone know where I can watch the Pilot episode? It didn't work on the site I'm using, so I just skipped it and dove straight ahead to episode 1. Did I miss something really, extremely important? It doesn't feel like I did. I want to watch it anyway.

You'll get Mitchell and Herrick backstory in S2 and S3. I didn't feel a lack of motivation behind Mitchell's actions though...
Definitely going to re-watch.The dialogue! The dialogue is the best thing! I love this show so much for it.
The pilot...meh. It doesn't even have Aidan Turner and Lenora Crichlow in it, and imo it feels clumsy compared to 1.1. All the important things from the pilot are in 1.1 anyway, the rest is a bit of George backstory if I remember well. It's like an alternate 1.1. I managed to watch three quarters of it on YT, the last part had been removed. =)
ETA: Did you watch the characters' prequels? You'll get backstory from there too, they're rather fun to watch, especially the one about Mitchell. =)

Date: 2012-06-24 07:54 pm (UTC)I think Mitchell is a great character, as you say, he doesn't go around whining about how horrible he is. He just gets on with life. Sure, trying to be better but not giving constant lectures about how bad he was.
Is it bad that I want a ghost like Annie around? Mitchell and Annie are sweet.
As for the pilot episode, I d/led a torrent that came with the pilot episode included. Didn't miss that much from what I remember, though Annie was played by someone else...
