I AM GOING TO MARRY THE CRAP OUTTA THIS MOVIE!

No, but seriously. That was amazing. Stunning scenery, excellent camera-work, amazing acting especially by Jennifer, Josh and Willow. How sinister is Donald Sutherland all of the sudden? How amazing was Clove? How perfect was the casting for Foxface? HOW INCREDIBLE WAS THE EXTRA LITTLE SCENE OF SENECA CRANE'S ASSASINATION WHERE THEY SIMPLY LOCK HIM IN A ROOM WITH THE BERRIES?? OMG SNOW YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR IS SO DISTURBING I LOVE IT.

The costumes where stunning as well, but I had imagined more fire from the chariot-rides; I liked what I was given though. The extra-scenes were a nice touch - in the books we are extremely restricted to Katniss POV, and the movies had a chance to expand on that. They did it beautifully.

Faults? I would've liked more time with Rue, and the whole of the conversation between Katniss and Peeta in the cave. His 'I saw you every day after that. Every day' was incredibly sweet though, and I will not account for any high-pitched sounds of joy I might've made at the time. I am so happy they didn't go all Gale/Katniss/Peeta drama on us, but they might still drop the bomb in the second movie (and to be fair, there is a fair bit of romantic drama in Catching Fire. I'm just praying it won't be the focus). Katniss' hallucinations, the flashback and Ceasar Flickerman were things that had me jumping in my seat as well, and the Mutts where alright; they were used in the best way possible, without adding or taking too much away. I'm sort of happy they didn't go with the 'they're made out of the dead Tributes' because I disliked that in the book to be honest, and it would have been even harder to do in the movie.

So, overall? Not perfect. But nothing is. And this was as fucking close as it could possibly be. AM I GOING TO SEE IT IN THE CINEMAS AGAIN? HELL YES!!

Hmm, yes, but to be fair it wasn't really important. Honestly, there was a lot of things about Haymitch character I didn't like. It was like Haymitch lite instead of the grumpy, insane alcoholic who throws up over himself in their first conversation. It wasn't because of Woody's acting, more the writing I think. Still, able to enjoy it!

I was sort of relieved that they downplayed the romance: to me, the books are about Katniss' love for her sister, not Peeta and Gale's love for Katniss. Plus, it was always going to be hard to show Katniss' train of thought in regards to her not really being in love with Peeta yet (or not realizing that she's in love with him yet), so I think they had to downplay it, so as to not make her seem like the biggest Slut of Slutdonia in the second movie with her going back and forth between Gale and Peeta (did that make any sense?)

I found it hilarious when they clipped between the kiss and Gale tho. Way to ruin a beautiful moment ;D

Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. There weren't those little scenes, like where he falls off the stage, or where they have to convince him to try to help them out, which I always thought was integral to his character.

I always thought that the fabricated relationship was really important to the plot, reflecting the peverse amounts of power the Capitol could have over it's citizens. I went with a friend who hadn't read the books, and she had no idea that the relationship wasn't true. I just think if they maybe added in that scene on the train where the truth comes out, it would have made a little more sense.

I actually didn't mind that too much. In the books, Gale was pretty absent, but the movie forces you to be reminded of him, a lot like Katniss's thoughts in the book.

Maybe they're going to incorporate some of it into the second movie, or just make it seem like Katniss really does want to forget everything that ever happened. I think they figured they had to be mindful of the rating, hence a lot of changes.
