Summary: There is mud in her hair, and she is laughing.
There’s mud in her hair and she can’t stop laughing.
”You should wash it out,” Severus grumbles, hand reaching out to carefully pick at the crusted dirt matting through her red locks. Well, they’re not so much red anymore.
”But I like it,” Lily complains, swinging her hair a little back and forth, sprays of mud getting everywhere, even on Severus. She opens her mouth to apologize, but he doesn’t even notice, his brow furrowed downwards and looking very displeased – well, more displeased than Severus usually looks.
”This way, no-one makes fun of my hair,” she says. ”It’s just brown, not red. I’m the only one with red hair in the street and they all pick on me.”
”They don’t matter,” Severus says, steadfastly, with convictions. She’s said that to him a hundred times. The others don’t matter. We do. I do. And I’m your friend.
He reaches out again and rubs at the mud until red shines through again, and Lily smiles.
