A Song of Ice and Fire/Game Of Thrones

I've recently started reading the first book in George R. R. Martin's series, and I was wondering, for anyone who has both read the books and watched the television series, what is the timeline for the two to mesh up? I mean, does the first season follow the first book, or is there less of a pattern? I'm just wondering, as I would rather have read the events in the books, before watching them on-screen, but since flawless cast is flawless I would like to see if I can start with the series as soon as I have finished the first book (which, judging from my reading speed is soon, god I love it so much I can't put it down...!)

To answer your question: yes, the first season is based on the first book only, it starts and it ends exactly as the book does :)

I think in S2 they're going to mix events from the 2nd and the 3rd books, or at least that's what I think judging by the promos of the season :)

Flawless saga is flawless ♥ enjoy the book! :D

I'm glad you're enjoying it! :)
S1, go for it, it follows the book. So far S2 follows book 2, but we've only had 3 eps so I don't know about the rest of them. I think they can't start book 3 in S2 though, a lot of things from book 2 have yet to happen.

It's wonderful - I can't believe I've let it stand on my shelf for so long without starting! :D

Answer to your question is: 1st season is connected to the first book, even some parts of the book are removed and some are added. :P
I think it's better to first read the book. Then you can watch first season and do the same with the rest of the book. :)

It was confirmed that GoT series will be making s3. ^__^ It might be based on the 3rd book, but might not. We are currently watching season 2, so it might be based on 2nd and 3rd book. :/

There are actually 5 parts and two more to come. ;)
First book is Game of Thrones, next is Clash of the Kings, then A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows and July 2011 came last part - A Dance with Dragons. You can read all about it on Wikipedia. <3

Thank-you! the wikipedia page on ASOIAF and George Martin was so gigantic that I admit I ran away from it ;)
