A Song of Ice and Fire/Game Of Thrones

keep_countingI've recently started reading the first book in George R. R. Martin's series, and I was wondering, for anyone who has both read the books and watched the television series, what is the timeline for the two to mesh up? I mean, does the first season follow the first book, or is there less of a pattern? I'm just wondering, as I would rather have read the events in the books, before watching them on-screen, but since flawless cast is flawless I would like to see if I can start with the series as soon as I have finished the first book (which, judging from my reading speed is soon, god I love it so much I can't put it down...!)

Date: 2012-04-18 04:22 pm (UTC)S1, go for it, it follows the book. So far S2 follows book 2, but we've only had 3 eps so I don't know about the rest of them. I think they can't start book 3 in S2 though, a lot of things from book 2 have yet to happen.
