Plausible theory?

I liked the Ritchie reference ;) plus, if you rewatch, you can actually see several people holding other people away from the body: yes, some bystanders might do this automatically, but wouldn't more people just be standing and watching in shock? I'm pretty sure there's also someone doing it before the ambulance and medical people arrive

If we're going by the book (and as Moffat and Gatiss are both avowed Holmes fanatics) then yes, Mycroft was involved. And really, he'd have to be. Sherlock needs SOMEONE to help him set up the whole not-really-dead plot, and as a legally dead person, he wouldn't be able to travel or work or do much of anything without an alternate identity.

I totally yelled at the computer while I was watching it. I think that the plot went all the way back to Mycroft giving out Sherlock's life story. HE'S MYCROFT HOLMES, he's not gonna fall for some cheap trick! He's too impressive for that! (And seriously, Conan Doyle had even Sherlock admitting that Mycroft was the more intelligent and deductive person, but Sherlock is more creative and has more ambition).

I really don't want to wait a year to see John and Sherlock reunited. And I really hope that after John faints he gets back up and punches Sherlock in the face.

It's a very acute: Big Brother is watching. He knows everything and I think Sherlock knows how desperate his situation is, enough to call for help from his brother. I mean, he's at a point where he would willingly almost commit suicide - or make it look that way - for his friends, and he's not going to put them in danger by letting his pride get in the way of asking his brother for help.

I think the Mycroft telling Moriarty about Sherlock was a mix: I think the Holmes' brothers were way more ahead of Moriarty than the episode gives away, but I do also think that Mycroft screwed up in some way. As you said, he is the most clever of the three, only his priorites are different: in this case, it was the government over his brother. That being said, I do think he had taken more precautions for the possible consequenses of that. I just hope the show is going to touch on this, because we all know how Moffat loves writing his 'clever' characters stupid... (sorry. Not a Moff-fan xD)

It's been a week and it still hurts. It's like Doomsday and End of Time II I just can't rewatch, I keep pausing! The last scene with John and the gravestone breaks me every single time

As in most things, I have mixed feelings about Moffat. I will always disagree with him about Rose (he hated her and she's my favorite companion), but I think that his episodes of Sherlock were brilliant, and I do like what he said about Sherlock and the Doctor:
"Sherlock Holmes is a man trying to be god. The Doctor is a god trying to be a man." I think it fits.

I love Mark Gatiss as Mycroft and I love how present he is in Sherlock. In the books there's a mention of him and a brief meeting, but not much else. Their feud is interesting because it helps to humanize them. The great and awesome Sherlock Holmes is petty enough to fall out with his brother--but I agree with you that he wouldn't let that stand in the way of saving the lives of his three friends (so glad Lestrade was in that group, by the way).

It was kind of nice to see Mycroft making a mistake (I totally yelled "You just killed your brother Mycroft Holmes!" when he told John what he'd done) but I still think that he's far too clever to totally fall on his face. Plus, did you see the inside of Moriarty's cell at the end of The Hounds of Baskerville? CREEPY STALKER MUCH?

Moriarty owns all of the buckets of crazy. Seriously.

Oh my gosh, when he asks Sherlock to please not be dead I seriously started crying. IT'S SO SAD. Hence why I think John needs to punch him in the face and then hug him for a few days!

Well, I disliked ASiB, but liked ASiP ;) otherwise, I really don't like his writing on Doctor Who, which I frankly think is awful at times. But yeah, he does better in this show.

I adore how much Mycroft is there as well! He's in every episode this season and it's making me squee in joy. Gatiss really brings him so much to life and I love their bickering, their snide-comments and the like.

Moriarty is totally in love with Sherlock ;D (in that, psychotic, 'you-make-me-not-bored' kind of way)

Muhahaha, the reunion I've written he does punch Sherlock. Hard. It was so satisfying to see on paper xD I was always upset in the ACD books when Watson wasn't more upset, but then again, it was a different time and the emotions were not as important as the plot: having five pages of Watson raving would maybe not have attracted an audience back then. Still! At least tell him what a dirtbag he is, and then hug him!
